Broken Bones Injury Claims Solicitors

When you’ve suffered broken bones in an accident that wasn’t your fault, a good motorcycle accident solicitor knows that different types of fracture can lead to very different claims.  While some fractures heal quickly, others can lead to a lifetime of problems.  Having the money to ensure the best possible rehabilitation can make all the difference.

At Bikelawyer we know all about the types of fractures riders tend to suffer, and our specialist lawyers have the expertise to make sure you get the right initial help, the right advice and to maximise the damages you get.

FAQ's

How serious is my fracture?

It depends on the type of fracture.

Many riders suffer from broken collar bones and wrists when they’re knocked of their bikes and they tend to have a relatively good prognosis. If its simple fracture in the middle of a bone then you’ll probably recover well.

Unfortunately if the break is more complicated or it’s near joint then things can be a bit more serious.

If you want to avoid under settling your motorcycle accident claim, then you need to instruct a motorcycle accident solicitor who understands how bike accidents work and the potential medical implications which these accidents can cause.

If you settle without fully investigating a claim, and it turns out that you’ve settled for a fraction of the claim’s potential worth, there is nothing you can do later to reopen it.

Should I accept an early offer?

Every case is different but it’s worth considering why the other side is making an early offer.

Insurers know that most people do make a good recovery from fractures but that those that don’t can have very valuable claims indeed.  By trying to settle your motorcycle accident claim early, they are hoping that by the time you find out, it will be too late.

Get in touch with us and we’ll be able to discuss both the merits of any offer and the risk of settling a claim without knowing how you will recover.

What is an intra-articular fracture?

Intraarticular fractures are those in which the break crosses the internal surface of a joint. They usually result in some degree of soft tissue damage around the joint as well.

Unfortunately with this sort of fracture the prognosis is not good.  It’s often the case that osteoarthritis sets in to the joint and clients can eventually need joint replacement or joint fusion (depending on which joint is injured).

As artificial joints themselves need periodic replacement, this can lead to very significant medical costs or a long painful wait for NHS treatment.

We’ll work out exactly what type of injury you’ve got, work out the risks and factor any future costs into your claim.  Our clients tell us that if joint replacement surgery is needed, having the money to go private, if they choose to, makes all the difference.

What help is available?

Rehabilitation and ongoing evaluation is key if you’ve suffered a fracture.  The type of rehabilitation will depend on the type of fracture but can be anything from intensive physiotherapy to revision surgery to remove or alter metalwork that was needed to stabilise a fracture.

If needed we can arrange this on a private basis to avoid delay and give you the best possible chance of recovery.

Will I have to pay for it?

No, we can make the other side pay for it as part of your claim.  We can usually do this even if liability is disputed.

What are the common types of broken bone?

An undisplaced fracture is where the bone is broken but the pieces are still in the right place.

Displaced means that the pieces don’t line up and surgery is usually required to correct the alignment.

A compound (or open) fracture. This is where the skin has been pierced by the bone.

A comminuted fracture is where the bone breaks into multiple pieces.

Intra-articular fracture is when the break goes though the inside of a joint.

How much can I claim for a fracture suffered in a motorcycle accident?

It really depends on the exact nature of the break and what the predicted recovery period is.  Please get in touch and we can give you a more detailed valuation.

What are my financial losses?

As well as the compensation you will get for the fact that suffering broken bones is a very miserable experience, your motorbike accident claim can also include all of the money that you will have lost as a result of the accident.  This can be money you’ve actually spent, or money that you should have received but didn’t get.

If you’ve suffered a fracture, you’ve probably had time off work, damaged your kit which has had to be cut off, and all manner of out of pocket expense, as well as losses you might suffer in the future.

We’ll work out exactly what the accident might cost you over your whole lifetime to maximise your claim.

Give us a call and we can let you know how much you could claim.
