£500,000 Compensation for Seriously Injured London Motorcyclist
Mr X, an experienced motorcyclist, was riding in London when a car driver pulled across his path, causing a serious road traffic accident. The collision resulted in multiple orthopaedic injuries, with the most severe damage affecting Mr X’s lower limbs. He also went on to develop severe post‑traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a result of the crash.
The driver of the car was prosecuted for driving without due care and attention, reinforcing the clear failings that led to the accident. Despite this, the Defendant’s insurers continued to argue that Mr X was partly responsible for the collision. They also disputed medical causation, alleging that Mr X’s psychiatric injuries were caused by factors unrelated to the accident.
As a direct consequence of his injuries, Mr X was unable to return to his pre‑accident employment, significantly affecting both his earning capacity and quality of life.
Mr X strongly maintained that he was not at fault, a position fully supported by Andrew Campbell of Bikelawyer, who acted on his behalf throughout the claim. Through robust negotiation and careful presentation of both liability and medical evidence, liability arguments and causation disputes were successfully overcome.
Rather than requiring Mr X to endure the additional stress of a contested court hearing to determine fault, psychiatric injury causation, and the value of the claim, the case concluded with a substantial negotiated settlement of £500,000.
