£2.4 million compensation for injured biker
Mr X was riding home from his work as a highly regarded head chef in late December 2017. He had right of way through a chicane but a driver coming the other way failed to give way and crashed into him.
Mr X sustained a complex pilon fracture to his left ankle. He also suffered from PTSD and depression. Over 5 years he underwent 5 surgeries and rehabilitation to try to resolve his debilitating pain which prevented him from returning to work and engaging in his pre-accident sporting activities and playing with his children.
Unfortunately none of the surgeries provided him with pain relief or acceptable function in the leg. He will require life-long care and physiotherapy, an adapted vehicle and he will be unable to return to work as a chef. The settlement sum recognised the risk of elective below knee amputation with the pain expert instructed by Bikelawyer optimistic of a good prognosis should Mr X opt for amputation.
