Refund after cancelled MotoGP event

I wondered if you could help? I bought 5 gold tickets for the Czech Motogp through the Motogp website, Dorna Sports.
I received an email offering a refund in early summer. I am still £500 out of pocket and think there must be hundreds possibly thousands in the same situation. Every time I email Dorna they say that they are waiting for the organisers of Brno Motogp to release funds.

I just wondered if you could maybe write an article to highlight how many Motogp fans have been treated. We’ve been travelling Europe for many years to Motogp races including 5 consecutive years to Brno. I know that these are very difficult times but this seems to have been dealt with very poorly.

Answer

I imagine that there were very many refunds requested and that staff numbers to process these may have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. It is likely the organisers are going through all of the refund requests hence the delay in getting back to you. It is likely that the contract you entered into to purchase the tickets is with Dorna Sports so you could tell them this and point out it is they, not the organisers, that should be refunding you, but you should check the booking terms and conditions you agreed to.

If you don’t receive a refund and you paid by credit card you could try to claim the money back from the credit card company. You may also have travel insurance that could cover financial loss due to the cancellation of the Czech event.
