In 2017 Mr X was fatally injured when his motorcycle collided with another vehicle. The motorcyclist was riding along a main road in London when the Defendant’s car pulled out of a side road into his path. Unfortunately the evidence that came out at the Inquest into the death of the biker was that he was riding at 76mph in a 30mph zone and was found to have illegal drugs in his bloodstream.
Although facing an uphill struggle Bikelawyer was not deterred. We obtained expert reconstruction evidence which established that the third party had been partly at fault for Mr T’s accident as he was there to be seen had she looked properly before deciding to pull out of the side road. Faced with this evidence, the Defendant’s legal team agreed to a settlement based on the Defendant accepting approximately 1/ 3 of the blame for the accident.
Bikelawyer then arranged for a substantial amount of the compensation to be invested into the Court Funds office on behalf of Mr X’s young children for when they reach adulthood.
Andrew Campbell, the Partner at Bikelawyer who acted for the family, said “ This was a tragic case but I am pleased we managed to secure compensation for the children despite the difficulties of the accident circumstances.”
